Rats infestation

Ras Al Khaimah Ras Al Khaimah Municipality has said it will conduct a rat-extermination campaign following complaints about the spread of rats on the Corniche.
The presence of the rodents has troubled visitors and families and the cleanliness of the area will be a focus for the authorities.
After Al Qawasim Corniche was renovated, it became a key destination for families and visitors to spend their free time. However, lately visitors have complained to the municipality about rats being spotted in the area, posing a threat to visitors and a challenge to the emirate's authorities. The authorities have announced that the issue will be addressed without delay.
Source of problem
Sources in Ras Al Khaimah said that the areas of the Corniche that have been renovated are well prepared to prevent rats taking up residence, but the fact that the Corniche is connected to the fish market and the slaughterhouse makes it difficult to find out the actual source of the problem.
These areas are adjacent to the Old City of Ras Al Khaimah and dilapidated houses in this area could also be the reason for the problem.
Sources stressed that handling the problem of rats living around the RAK Creek will be a dilemma for the emirate's authorities as they can easily reach the emirate's Corniche.
Sources stressed that the cleanliness of the area is a key issue and the workers will not be allowed to make the area dirty.
Fighting the problem of rats should start with ensuring cleanliness in the first place, otherwise the rats will reappear, no matter what poison is used, sources said.
